Hey everyone!!

First off, I wanted to say THANK YOU to everybody who sent me birthday wishes, either via Facebook or through email. I honestly can't believe that I'm finally 20 years old! I've secretly always viewed 20 year olds as, well.... old. And now I'm ONE OF THEM. The thing is, I still feel like a silly, lanky teenager. Maybe because my body still hasn't gotten the memo that I'm supposed to be an adult? I'm still as skinny and awkward as ever. I can only grow half a beard (which will make keeping the honor code at BYU all the more easier!). I guess I'm just an old man in a young body? Nothing wrong with that!

I feel as though my time with Elder Taylor just began, and now it is coming to an end. In 4 more days, he's going to embrace his family for the first time in two years! I could not be more excited for him! We have developed such a close friendship these past 6 weeks, one that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. I've learned the value of having FUN with him, a quality that cannot be understated.

With that being said, Transfer Announcements have come, and I have been assigned to be a trainer of a new missionary! The Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission has decreased in size these past few months, primarily due to a large number of missionaries going home. Well, to make up for it, Salt Lake has elected to send us 80 new missionaries within the next 3 transfers. This massive influx of missionaries will begin this transfer, with the introduction of 25 new missionaries. Amongst these missionaries is my next victim... errrr... COMPANION.

I'll be honest, I am quite apprehensive at the task that lies before me. Thinking back to my time being trained, I was more than a little bit difficult. I had a LOT of difficulty adjusting to missionary life, including the sleeping schedule, the eating schedule (only 30 minutes for lunch? C'MON), and the pressure of being a 24/7 representative of the Lord, Jesus Christ. I can only hope that my trainee is NOTHING like me, and that he is ready to start working and serving the people here in Pittsburgh!

I intended to write so much more in this email, but I just looked at the clock, and I've only got a few more minutes left! In a few short words, I'm excited for the future! These next two transfers are going to be so difficult, but so rewarding! Please pray for me and my future trainee (who I will meet on Thursday)! Love you all!

Elder Jake Gonzales
