Mom!!

I'm grateful that you chose to send me a letter at all after such an ordeal. I'm sorry to hear about all of this crap that happened to you last night. Who knew that after all this time, they would FINALLY decide to spontaneously start towing people's cars?Thats pretty dumb. I hope by the time that you get this email, you have your car back safe and sound, and the worst of it is over.

You're absolutely right. Transfers happen this Thursday, and the results are in! I'm going to be staying here in the Northside, and will be training a new missionary!! I'm actually pretty excited! I've found that I am most effective and enjoy my mission the most when I am able to help and guide another missionary. Obviously, at this point, I have no idea who that missionary is going to be. I will find out on Thursday afternoon at the Trainers' meeting. We have 25 new missionaries arriving this week, so really, trying to guess who my trainee is going to be is futile. I don't really care who it is, so long as he's not a toolbar who thinks he knows everything because he's been in the MTC a WHOLE 3 WEEKS (sarcasm). Please pray for me and my new trainee!

Unfortunately, since I'm going to be training, I will undoubtedly stay here in the Northside area for a other two transfers. I'm a little disappointed about that, since, as you know, this is definitely not my favorite area. By the time I leave this place, it will have been 6 months that I've been here. Which is equivalent to the amount of time I spent in Lewisberry and Greensburg. I guess President wants me to stay in each of my areas for a while?

I also have more favorable news! At the start of this next transfer, I will no longer be District Leader! I think that President recognized that having me be District Leader while training a new missionary would be a bit overwhelming for me. So, as a result, he has replaced me with an elder I came out with, Elder Ifopo. I could not be more grateful! To be honest, being District Leader had proven to be quite exhausting and frustrating. I don't really like having all of the responsibility on my shoulders. I'm passionate about this work, but prefer to be in the backseat. My reservoirs of Revelation have been somewhat depleted these past few weeks, so I have no problem passing the baton to someone else.

Probably the highlight of the week was Stake Conference yesterday. I am serving in the same stake as the Greensburg ward, and so I was able to see a lot of my old friends, including the Stanley's and the Quiggs. Not to mention my recent convert, Diane Anderson. It was actually pretty funny. I was just standing there, talking to Diane, when out of nowhere I hear behind me, "WHAT THE CHICKEN?? I'm gonna CRY!!" hahahaha It was Sister Stanley. She was so excited to see me. I've missed those people so much. Same with the Quiggs. When I saw Sister Quigg, she was so excited she gave me a mini hug, which was awkward because President Bednar was just standing a few feet away. I miss Greensburg. That place felt like home.

Elder Taylor will be going home this week. I'm gonna miss that guy. He's been a really good friend and companion. I'm grateful that the Lord elected to send me him for this past Transfer. With that being said, I'm glad he's going home. Tgat dude is TRUNKY as heck. Each day, when we wake up, he's like "5 more days, Elder. 5 more days." I wonder if I'll be that way when I hit my last transfer. Probably haha. I'm like that NOW sometimes.

The work is still struggling. I wish at this point, I had better things to tell you. But this just means that my trainee will get a valuable learning experience right at the beginning of his mission. He's gonna learn the true value of FINDING, which is such a crucial part of missionary work (it's also the most grueling and undesirable part, but let's not talk about that).

Anwyas, thats all I've got for you this week! Love ya!

Elder Jake Gonzales
