MAY_13_19_GROUP_TOW_Week of May 13, 2019

Hello Everyone!!

It's been yet another great week here in Towanda. Surprise, surprise. I feel like I start all of my emails that way. But it's oh, so true! I love every moment that I spend here in Towanda. I'm not gonna come out on the record and say this is my favorite area but.... It just might be. Gosh. Sorry Greensburg. Love you too. ✋🎶 (Hunger Games whistle plays in the background).

The miracles have been so prevalent, it's insane. Lemme tell you another story. Get comfortable. This is a good'n'.

So, I first got here to Towanda just two days before Thanksgiving. We were invited to the Jicha's house for Thanksgiving, a family that had recently moved into the ward. Well, while we were there, I was able to meet Jody and Ron, Sister Jicha's sister and brother in law. I also met Ben, their 9 year old son. I got to know them pretty well. Little did I know, that Ron and Jody were already members of the church, just less active. And Ben had never been baptized.

Anyways, a few months pass by and we are at Sister Jicha's house again talking about missionary work. She starts talking about how she would love to get her sister back into the church, as well as her family and nephew, Ben. We ask her to share something with her sister on Facebook. Then ask her for her sister's address.

Elder Foster and I concoct a plan to "tract" into the family. We knock on their door, and act all surprised that they are there. They recognize me and let us in immediately. We have a good visit with them.

Since then, we've gone over there every few weeks. We even had dinner with them about a month and a half ago. And they brought us dinner like 5 months ago on a day that it was snowing pretty heavily and we had to stay in. So I guess you could say that we're pretty good friends.

Well, on Saturday we went over there and did some yard work with them. And afterwards, we took it as an opportunity to teach them the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ben absolutely loved it! We invited him to be baptized on June 15, the Sunday before I go home. He said he wants to do it! And his parents were so grateful for his righteous desire. His father, Ron, has some things he needs to figure out before then, but he wants to be the one to Baptize him on that date.

Now, we will be meeting with Ben, Ron, and Jody every Tuesday and Thursday up until that date. Wow. Isn't God so good? I've been working with them for forever, slowly building up trust, and now THIS happens. It makes me so happy to see the closeness and unity that this family is experiencing as a result of the gospel. That's what family is SUPPOSED to be. That's what I want for my famly. That's what I love to see.

Anyways, now that I've told you the big news, here's some other big news! I'm staying in Towanda for the final 6 weeks of my mission! Elder Seeley has emerged from his chrysalis and is now leading out an area in Freeport. Man, they grow up so fast. I'm gonna miss the crap out of that kid. I love him to death, learned so much from him, and am excited to see what the rest of his mission has in store for him.

Now I'm with Elder Jeffery, a fellow tennis player! God is good!! We got to play tennis on Saturday and it was AWESOME. It's been so long since I've played against someone GOOD. No offense Elder Seeley. Elder Jeffery played doubles in High School, so he's got a little work to do (I beat him 6-1), but he's got some wicked serves and I'm excited to learn from him!

I'm excited to learn Missionary skills from him too, but that is secondary to learning how to do wicked serves lol.

A couple of other highlights:
- I went fishing last P-Day and caught a massive 2 incher! Yup. Be Jealous.
- Also got spit on by an Alpaca. Bucket List one step closer to being complete.
- I did some more digital art! This time of the Palmyra temple! I'm really starting to love Digital Art. It's a good alternative to Watercolor painting, since I don't have the time or patience to do that on my mission. Expect some more digital art!

I love you!

Elder Jake Gonzales
