Hello Mother.

Thanks for the email! I'm glad to hear that BYU won their game against McNeese St. If we had lost to them, that would have been SUPER embarrassing, considering they're a cupcake team. It seems like our defense did what they were supposed to do, and held them only to a few points. Once again, it's our offense that was struggling. Like John said in his letter, it's funny how BYU always manages to play at the level of their competition. But fortunately, they were able to get some points on the board and still establish a bit of dominance. I'm excited to see how we fare against Washington next week. That will be a real test of our wills. I'd like to say that I'm optimistic, but the past has kinda shown that we tend to choke against these teams at this point in the season. We'll see!

It's interesting that you and your boss had such a heated argument, and yet you're not really in any danger of being fired. Does the principal have the power to fire you? I just know that if I were to argue with my boss, or my zone leader or whatever, I would probably be pretty nervous. Hopefully not. Although you said that your boss will be evaluating you today, and that her evaluation could potentially damage your standing at work? I don't really understand how this all works, but i hope everything goes okay with the evaluation.

Definitely do not accept Sister Zellars friend request. I love her to death, and she keeps things in the 1st Ward interesting, but the last thing you need is frequent communication from her. She's basically the Crazy Pam of the 1st Ward. In fact, everybody calls her Crazy Linda. She takes me and my companion out to eat like 2 or 3 times a week, and we're extremely grateful for that. She does a good job of taking care of us missionaries. I have no problem with her sending you pictures of me wearing an idiotix crown at burger King. But she can continue to do that through Facebook and NOT through messenger haha.

It has been a pretty great week for me and Elder Toomer. Not because anything particularly good happened, but just because we were able to get down and dirty in the work, and just knock countless doors each day. Tracting may not be the most effective mode of finding Investigators, but I never feel more like a missionary than when I'm finding. I feel a little bit bad for Elder Toomer. We had Zone Conference this past week, and a lot of the Elders that came out with him were telling him about all of the people that they have to teach, and how some of them had already had baptisms. Meanwhile, Elder Toomer is over here, lucky if he has a lesson. I talked to him about it, and he said that he's grateful that things are not necessarily easy for him right now. It's helping to teach him the value of hard work. Im grateful for a companion that is so humble and willing to submit to the will of the Lord. That's a great quality to have.

Paul came to church again this week! It was awesome to see him here, and especially gratifying to have somebody show up to church when they said they would be there. We were able to teach Paul the previous night, on Saturday, and had a great lesson with him. We basically just reviewed the Restoration with him, to ensure that he understood everything. We also emphasized the Book of Mormon, and why we are continually asking him and others to read it. Probably the best part of the lesson was the end, when we invited him to say the closing prayer. He was a little hesitant, but he said an awesome prayer, so full of gratitude to the Lord for EVERYTHING he has. Paul's life isn't that great right now. He's in a foreign country, away from his family, with no job. He's still recovering from a bullet wound that should have killed him. Life is hard. And yet he's grateful for his blessings.

After the lesson, Brother McDermott took us outside and told us that in his whole life, he had never heard his brother say a prayer. EVER. He was tearing up a little bit. He thanked us repeatedly for the good that we're doing, and for the blessing that we are to his family. That felt good. He also told me that Paul is always talking about us when we're not around, especially me haha. He said Paul likes my voice What can I say? Just a future sports commentator lol.

Just a few other tidbits from this week:
-Some members took us out to eat to a place called Nicky'sThai Kitchen, and it was SO GOOD. I just got basic fried rice, but it was some of the best fried rice that I've eve had in my life. Definitely planning on going there again at some point.
- We also ate at this less active's house that we had never met before. He's not in the ward directory. But he made too many stuffed Peppers and looked up our number online and asked if we wanted to eat with him. Of course, we were more than grateful to. The only downside was he was burning incense in his house, and it like wrecked our throats. The next morning, we woke up with raspy, aching throats. Not fun.
- It's starting to get a little chilly here in Pittsburgh. Already broke out the sweaters again. Not too bad, but you can definitely tell Fall is here. Not that I'm complaining. I love the Fall and Winter!

Anyways, that's about it. Hope you're doing okay. Love you so much!
