Hey everyone!!

Yes, I'm sending this on Tuesday. No, I'm not an apostate missionary. My companion and I moved our P-Day to today because, well.. WE'RE GOING TO THE PALMYRA NEW YORK TEMPLE TODAY!

For those of you who don't understand why that's a big deal, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we believe that the original church that Jesus Christ established while he was here on the earth has been BROUGHT BACK. Well, the place where that Restoration first occurred was in Palmyra, New York. In 1820, a young boy named Joseph Smith had a question. He loved God, and wanted to follow him, but didn't know which church to join. So he decided to go into a grove of trees by his house to pray and ask God.

What happened next changed the world forever.

He describes his experience as, "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!”

Yup. Joseph Smith, a 14 year old boy, saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. Right in that grove of trees. Through him, Jesus Christ restored his original church. That's the church we have today.

So, for us members of this church, this grove of trees in Palmyra, New York is kinda a big deal. It's one of the only places that we know of that God Himself visited the earth.

I'm more than a little excited to see it.

I'll be sure to send you all some pictures! If not today, then definitely next week!

Lots of great things happened in our area this week! We were able to find quite a few people to teach, which was much needed in this area.

I also hit 18 months a couple of weeks ago. So there's that. Yay!

Anyways, I hope you're all doing okay! Merry Christmas! I'll talk to you next week!

Elder Jake Gonzales
