Hey Dad!!
Thanks for taking the time to write to me. I really do try to be personal with each of my investigators. It's something that's really easy to me, but also really difficult as well. When Carlos came and visited me yesterday, it really made me realize just how much I much I missed him, and how much I love each person that I teach. It's something that I've developed since I've been on my mission (which is REALLY cool because it's something that's mentioned in my patriarchal blessing). But at the same time, I want to make sure I'm not using the same techniques while teaching each person. We received a referral yesterday. The guy that we will soon start teaching is a BIG guy, a construction worker. Apparently he uses lots of foul language, and has tattoos and whatnot. But he really wants to know about the Gospel. And thats awesome. But you see, I wouldn't teach him the same way that I would teach Carlos. So we'll see how it goes.
Ouch man!! That's just a stab to my heart!! I wasn't really that much of a lame freshman, right?? Did I really help you to know how to deal with them? If that's the case, you're welcome).
Everyone I hear about Lucy and Jesus, it always makes me really miss them. Tell them that I love them. And that they're welcome to come to church anytime. How about next Sunday?? Haha just kidding. But seriously, tell them I love them.
I gave a talk in sacrament meeting yesterday. I think it went relatively well, and others thought so too (I hope). After Sacrament Meeting, an old guy from the Ward pulled me aside and asked if he heard me correctly, that I was from Peru. I told him yes, and he got all excited. He told me he LOVES Peruvian music, and I asked him if he had heard songs played on the zampona? He said YES. and then I asked him if he knew the song "As the Condor Flies By"?? He was like YES THATS MY FAVORITE!! So we had a good conversation with each other. He told me that next time I give a talk in sacrament Meeting, I should play that song in the background, give the Ward a taste of the Hispanic lifestyle. I told him I would. Hahaha we'll see what the Bishop has to say about that.
Anyways, I could really use some dad advice right about now. Did you ever train? What was it like? Should I be concerned? Really, anything would be much appreciated.
I love you Dad. Hope you have a great day at work today. And Family home evening later haha.

Qué tal Elder Gonzales (January 28, 2018),I’m excited for you about your presentation at Seton Hill University. Use your charisma, your sense of humor, all your talents, and be empathetic. After all, you are one of them. You are a college student about their age and going through almost the same trials and having the same concerns they are experiencing. I know you will do great, just let the Spirit talk for you.It seems that the Lord has blessed Irwin and is blessing you with people that are prepared to be taught eternal principles. Teach them the best way you know how and the Holy Ghost will do the rest. I suggest you to be very personal every time you testify of the Principles and doctrines you are teaching; share your own experiences or the experiences from people you know to reinforce the idea that they could happen to anybody as long as they have the disposition and the willingness to follow the Gospel Teachings.Tomorrow I begin my third week of classes and the students I have sound like they are really prepared. I have mostly Freshmen in my classes and—after going through you and your siblings, and especially you—I feel that I am prepared to deal with their crap! Lol! Do I sound like Sarah or like your Mom?Talking about your siblings, John has invited over for dinner on Thursday. I think this dinner would be the first one they are hosting for another couple and that couple is his parents. How sweet! Aunt Lucy and uncle Jesús are having us over for lunch on Sunday after church. So, yes, we are becoming the social butterflies of the family. Briana already had her turn, now it’s ours! This coming Sunday, fast Sunday nonetheless, we are having our High Priest Council during the third hour. The emphasis for this particular meeting is going to be addressing the concern: “How can I make time to do my Home teaching?” If, for any reason, we finish earlier we will devote the time to discuss ANYTHING HOMETEACHING. I will make sure, before we finish, to pose the question, NOW WHAT? and then set goals, and commit the priesthood body to act upon those teachings. The next fast Sunday, which mean the first Sunday in March, they will need to RETURN and REPORT! I am optimistic about that approach to the Gospel. The Gospel is a Gospel of action, not just teaching and learning, but of—all that and—doing!!!Enjoy your P-Day tomorrow, and relax and rest!Love you,DaD
